What a wonderful night! I’m still all excited, a dream come true!
Thanks to all my colleagues – my buddy Nicola Alaimo (who celebrates his birthday today! Buon compleanno!!!), René Barbera (a fellow debutante on the Met stage!), our Mustafà Ildar Abdrazakov, Ying Fang, Rihab Chaieb, and Dwayne Croft, the wonderful chorus and orchestra, the great Maestro James Levine, and all the crew and personnel at the Metropolitan Opera!
And of course THANK YOU to all the people who attended the opening night of L’italiana in Algeri, and to those who listened to the live broadcast from all over the world!

James Levine conducts this comedy of a feisty Italian girl turning the tables on her bumbling captors via Rossini’s blend of madness and fun. Mezzo-soprano Marianna Pizzolato makes her Met debut in the title role, opposite tenor René Barbera and baritone Nicola Alaimo. Bass-baritone Ildar Abdrazakov plays the pasha who is overcome by love and pasta.
